About Scuba2 - The Club

First formed in 1987 and incorporated as a club with one common interest – DIVING! The Club has maintained its independence of any dive shop since then, and is a non-profit organization. When it was formed major goals were established. These include:

  • To promote safe diving at all times.
  • To dive with like-minded buddies.
  • To have fun.
  • Conservation of the marine environment.
  • Social interaction.

It was felt then, as it is now, that divers needed regular diving with other keen, safe divers, so that those newer to the sport could learn from those with greater experience.

Diving

The basis of any dive club is, of course, its diving. We have a Dive Co-ordinator, and Club dives are organized by volunteer members.

Regular trips away are organized, ranging from overseas destinations, through the further reaches of Western Australia, to a weekend in Dunsborough. We also dive regularly in the metro area, both day and night dives, shore dives and boat dives. The Club is always keen to dive new and unusual sites.

Safe diving is encouraged at all times. An annual dive Skills Review is arranged by the Club, and all members are encouraged to participate. On any Club dive, new divers are partnered with a more experienced buddy. We actively encourage new divers to take the Advanced and Rescue courses and many have Nitrox certifications. Some divers even have leanings towards Technical Diving.

Meetings

Scuba2 - The Club meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm at The Mount Flora Museum meeting room on Elvire St, Watermans Bay (between Flora Tce and High St ).

For directions, See map1 map2 map3

At almost all meetings we have a guest speaker, who could be one of our own members describing (usually with pictures) a recent dive trip, or someone with expertise in some aspect of the life aquatic – anything from marine biology to underwater forensics.

The "LogBook"

The "LogBook" is the Club's bi-monthly magazine, featuring a calendar of up and coming diving and social events, and with articles on diving and social events, trips away, and up to date news on Club members. Contributions by members are strongly encouraged.

Like to Join?

By joining the Club you will receive the "LogBook" every two months and be able to participate in club dives, social events and trips away, usually at discounted prices. Club members also have access to a lending service of dive related books, videos etc, owned by the club, and discounts on club apparel including caps, shirts and fleecy tops.

If you are interested in joining Scuba2 The Club, you are more than welcome to come along to one of our meetings or contact us by email on memboff@scuba2.asn.au or at our postal address which is:
